A Warm Spell
Artist: Meg Lionel Murphy
Acrylic Gouache on Wood Panel
36 in x 48
My work takes place in a dreamworld where suffering transforms femme bodies into a monstrous, giant size, so that their pain must be seen, felt, and reckoned with.
My paintings start by examining real objects, like toys, trinkets, and doll furniture. My hope is that the artwork jolts the viewer back and forth between child and adult — between life size and giant size, between play and power, between hope and loss.
